What a COA has to show

The single most useful skill in this market is reading a certificate of analysis, because almost every quality question reduces to whether the vendor can produce one for your lot.

A COA that names a lot number matching your vial, reports HPLC purity with the chromatogram attached, confirms identity by mass spectrometry, and states net peptide content is doing its job. One that shows a purity percentage on a product page with no document behind it is marketing.

Identity matters more than purity, and it is the check most often skipped. A vial can be 99% pure and contain the wrong peptide.

What its regulatory status means for availability

FDA placed BPC-157 in category 2 of its interim compounding policies — bulk drug substances that may present significant safety risks — and its status has moved more than once since. That is why supply and legality shift: this is not a stable product category.

Before you buy

  • A COA that names the specific lot number printed on your vial — not a generic COA for the product line.
  • HPLC purity with the chromatogram attached, not a bare '99%' figure on a web page.
  • Mass-spec identity confirmation. Purity without identity tells you the vial is 99% something.
  • Net peptide content, which is lower than vial weight once counterions and residual solvent are excluded.
  • An independent lab named on the COA. A vendor's own assay is a self-report.
